Strategic Advice

Better infrastructure provides a platform to help grow the economy, create social cohesion, enhance the environment and deliver better public services. SIB works with stakeholders across the public, private, voluntary and community sectors to assist the ongoing transformation of Northern Ireland. This includes developing innovative approaches to maximise economic opportunities in an increasingly competitive global environment.
Our Strategic Investment Advisory Team work with stakeholders to:
- assess the impact of regional, national and international trends and externalities on key public services, and formulate the right infrastructure policy responses – for example to counter rising energy costs;
- develop and test alternative strategic investment plans to identify affordable and deliverable options for infrastructure development which represent value for money;
- assess risk and build a case for investment to improve resilience in critical infrastructure;
- evaluate wider market and other opportunities to secure additional revenue income to support core services and improve quality;
- identify opportunities to secure better outcomes through effective partnering between government departments, local government, the private and third sectors; and communicate strategically important messages to key stakeholders, and manage stakeholder relationships.
Our team brings informed thinking on sustainable economic development and an understanding of the role of infrastructure as an enabler of growth. This work helps to identify and deploy best practice to strategic planning through visioning; objective setting; intelligence on what works; base-lining; mapping; and tracking NI's relative performance as reported by external bodies, e.g. Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
