INVESTMENT STRATEGY

At the request of the Office of the First Minister and the deputy First Minister (OFMDFM), on behalf of the Northern Ireland Executive, SIB drafted the Investment Strategy for Northern Ireland (ISNI) 2008-2018. This was produced in consultation with and informed by stakeholders and published January 2008.

ISNI sets out the framework with which the Executive will create a sustainable 21st century infrastructure. It identifies priority areas for investment and is intended to assist government and private sector partners to effectively plan for the challenge of delivering the largest ever investment programme in Northern Ireland. SIB supports the public and private sectors to enhance delivery on these goals.

To address a legacy of underinvestment in Northern Ireland, a planned £6 billion of new infrastructure will be delivered by 2011, and approaching £20 billion by 2018. SIB has a statutory responsibility to advise the Executive on infrastructure investment strategy, and monitor implementation of ISNI
