One of SIB's core responsibilities is to develop, on behalf of the Northern Ireland Executive, a long-term investment strategy to transform the region's infrastructure. Martin joined SIB in April 2006 to lead on this work, working with local ministers and senior officials across all government departments and agencies and also with key stakeholder groups in the community.

Martin is a member of the Capital Realisations Taskforce, established by ministers, to report on the potential to improve the strategic management of public sector assets in Northern Ireland. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of Constructing Excellence Northern Ireland (CENI) located at the University of Ulster.

Martin has wide experience in public sector management consultancy across the UK and Ireland - particularly in financial planning, operational efficiency review, programme evaluation and performance management. Prior to joining SIB, he was a founding director of MSA Ferndale Consulting Limited and a Director of Consulting with Tribal Group plc. His early career was with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
